Thursday Thirteen - Number 6

This is my list of random musings and discoveries from more or less the past week.  I hope you find a smile in there somewhere.

1.  It got up to 108 degrees on Monday. I don’t think anything else needs to be said about that.

2.  I wish catnip made me feel the way it makes the cats feel. However, catnip tea, especially with a bit of honey and some cream, is quite tasty.

Photo Jul 13, 11 43 15 PM3.  This is so inviting, tic-tac-toe rocks and all. I could very, very, easily spend a lot of time here.

4.  There is an amazing amount of stuff and people that will be just fine if whatever I do has nothing to do with it or them.

Photo Jul 13, 11 16 23 PM5.  Ben & Jerry’s “Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream” is seriously good. It’s vanilla ice cream with fudge-covered waffle cone pieces and caramel.

6.  Fried green tomatoes can be a meal just by themselves.  And Honey, they were good too!

7.  I still like to freeze fruit juice in ice cube trays. It’s so good especially on these really hot days.

Photo Jul 13, 11 42 46 PM8.  This is a bit too modern for my tastes, but I love all the sunlight.

9.  Egg cartons, tied shut, with treats inside them make great cat and dog toys. At least for a little while.

10.  Who does have the best widgets for their toolbar, Google or Yahoo?

11.  Jiffy Pop popcorn is as much fun to pop now as it was when I was a little girl.

12.  Photo Jul 13, 11 43 02 PMI like these colors. And, my kitties and tiny dog would have a lot of fun with that rug!

13.  “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.” – Marie Curie

If you’ve got thirteen things just begging to be listed, this is the place to do it: Thursday 13.

  1. The only thing I know about that works on humans the way catnip does on felines, is xtacy, but I don't think it makes good tea. *grin*

    Americone Dream, mmmm, delicious. :)

  2. 1. Ugh! I do not envy you those temps. We're supposed to be up to 90 or above over the weekend, and I'm crying just thinking about it.

    5. Waffle cone bits...too funny!

    6. I'd rather have fried zucchini. In fact, I have--twice so far this week. At least something in the garden is growing...

    12. Oh...I like this room much more than the first. An all-white room is just too stark and utilitarian looking.

    13. A beautiful quote!

  3. Yeah i had me one of them fancy Rock-Tac-Toe boards once. Lost one of the rcoks, wrote to the company for a replacement. it took them * months & they billed me $175. But what was I gonna do? I really needed that stone!

And I'm about half an hour from the original Ben & Jerry factory; take the tour (free samples included) at least twice a year.

  4. I adore fried green tomatoes and have had them as a meal. My husband doesn't like them so I only fix them for myself, usually just one time a year. It's like my summer treat.

  5. I'll have to try that new icecream. I guess cats have catnip and we have caffiene. Great list and quote.

  7. We have a little sheepskin rug that our Mommeh got from Ikea and we LOVE it! It looks like a smaller version of the one in that photo.

  8. Cat nip tea? I had no idea. If I brew it around the cats, will they go wacky? Stephen Colbert's ice cream -- I must look for it. I love everything about him.

  9. Fun thoughts... made me want to cool off in that pool with ice cream or frozen fruit juice pops. Oh, and popcorn!
