This is my first Three Word Wednesday writing. I confess I am quite nervous over it. The three words are: Alter, Fond and Tranquil.
Sitting beside the cool blue tranquil water, her mind drifted. She thought of time and what had changed since their beginning. How her heart had raced when she'd realized he was fond of her. She had been so shy. He some older, more experienced, and supposedly wiser. Now, their hair sported shades of gray. Lines on their faces spoke of past worries, laughter and smiles they'd shared together. She rested her head on his shoulder. A leaf floated by smoothly on the calm water. She could hear his watch softly ticking. Time, it really does march on, doesn't it? We change, but it doesn't. Time passes, our bodies change, so do our thoughts and opinions. But our love? Does time alter it? Yes. But only to make it stronger and deeper.
Visit Three Word Wednesday to try it yourself, and find other participants. It's a great writing challenge that is fun and will really get you thinking.

ReplyDeleteFirst, welcome to 3WW; I hope you'll find us a community where you find a new voice, or revive an old one. Your piece is full of love and tenderness and is a nice slice of a moment in time.
ReplyDeleteActually, I was thinking about moving The Serialists from Friday to Wednesday, starting in a week or two.
ReplyDeleteI wish that was the case, but excellent job. Loved your story. Wished they all turned out that way.
