I'm behind - again...

I am, again, having to play catch-up. Last week got really long and hard. It finally ended after three visits to three different doctors, and learning how to give myself Insulin shots. Well, it's a new aspect to the adventure, that's for sure.

  1. Yikes! Not an "adventure" one really wants to take on!

I was in a book store yesterday afternoon, looking at cook books for grain-free and/or gluten-free living, and saw quite a few for those who are diabetic. I know diet is important for you--well, for all of us, in our individual ways, for our various health issues.

  3. My best friend in the entire world is diabetic. Adult onset, in his late 30s. He was reasonably healthy and had no family history and the diagnosis (about 7 years ago now) really rocked his world.

While he's not at all HAPPY about it these days, it did introduce him to his love of cooking. He's become a real foodie and it's his loved creative outlet, his favorite hobby. He's also healthier than he ever was before. All because he has to be so conscious about diet and exercise.

I'm not minimizing what you're going through. Not at all! You know I have my own issues lately and understand how icky it is when you feel you and your body aren't playing on the same team. I'm just sharing this because I've been inspired by the way my best friend has let his diabetes shape his life in a positive way.

His experience gives me a little window into what you're going through and I'm sending good thoughts your way.

  6. As much as it changes your life, try to look on the funny side too. The heading for your post "I'm behind again..." gave me a smile to think of you injecting in your derriere rather than your tummy! Do hope the treatment brings everything under control promptly.
